South Putuo Temple or Nanputuo (南普陀寺) is one of the most prosperous Buddhist temple founded in the Tang dynasty, which is located in Xiamen (厦门). Since the 1920s, South Putuo Temple has been the center of Buddhism education and exchange at home and abroad. It can be called the "Harvard University" of Chinese Buddhism. Many temples here in Singapore are also inextricably linked to it, including our famous Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery (光明山普觉禅寺).
Several months ago, I visited a monk at the South Putuo Temple. When I stood by the lotus pond at the temple's main gate, I was deeply shocked by the beautiful scene of the temple. As if I was in a sacred lotus paradise, with waves of holy scents came from the Mahavira Hall, calming my mind and bringing me into a deep state of meditation.
After that, I wanted to capture the scene using incense, so I made this batch of sticks. Hope it brings you peace and a meditative experience.
