Agarwood - Kyara from Japan

Since the establishment of the Rikkoku Gomi (六国五味, Six Countries and Five Tastes), Japan began to highly value and carefully appreciate every piece of agarwood. Over these centuries, many unique agarwood pieces with distinctive aromas have been carefully selected, named, and preserved to this day, especially for Kyara. Glad to share with you three types of the Kyara from Japan:

1. 伽羅 (Kyara) is the best type of agarwood in Rikkoku Gomi. Most of the Kyara is from Vietnam and even at room temperature, it will continuously emit an incredible scent. In ancient times, those who could smell Kyara were considered the most fortunate people in the world. This is considered as the most standard one in Japanese Kōdō.

2. 海松 (Sea Pine), as its name describes, the aroma of this Kyara has a hint of pine from the sea, which is very interesting.

3. 红霞 (Red Sunset), as its name describes, once you smell it, you are in the beautiful red sunset, warm and filled with happiness.
